Library use only

 

Faculty and researchers may check out books for 6 (six) months and renew them one time for 6 (six) months. In this case, if after 56 calendar days from the date of initial receipt of the book received a request from another Patron, the book should be returned to the Library.

 

Books can be checked out for a period of 14 (fourteen) calendar days by students and employees of the University and its organizations, and renew 3 times by 14 days each.

 

Issues of periodicals which are two issues prior to the current issue or more can be checked out to the Permanent Patrons of the Library for 3 (three) days, and renew one time for a week. CDs/DVDs are issued for 3 (three) days.

 

Upon request of a professor, items used as textbooks can be issued to each student for the entire semester or academic year, depending on the length of the course. Upon completion of the course, the student returns all textbooks to the Library.

 

The following material can only be used in the Library:

-          new issues of periodicals; geographic maps;

-          reference materials, including encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.;

-          other materials marked “For Reference Only”.

 

Library materials borrowed on your account are your responsibility. Once Library materials are checked out, feel free to use them on the 4th Floor Balcony Reading Room.


 

         Renewing Items

 

Items recalled by other borrowers need to be returned (patron has the right to borrow up to 56 calendar days). 

An item on loan can be renewed if:

The item has not already been renewed (maximum 3 renewal per item)

The item has not been placed on reserve by another borrower.

The item is renewed with your usual borrowing period starting from the day of renewal.

 

Renew your Library items using 3 options:

 

1.      Online: You can renew your items online by going to http://library.nu.edu.kz - You will need to have your library Log in and Password to be able to access this feature.    

2.      In the Library: Let the library staff to know the titles of the items you wish to renew.


 

        Returning Items

 

Items can be returned at any of the two floors of the Library and to returning boxes on the campus.

 

Late Returns

Unreturned materials will result in account restrictions.

 

Lost or Damaged Items

·         Patrons who damage the Library collection bear material and other responsibility in accordance with legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

·         If books or other materials from the Library collection are lost or damaged, the Patron is obliged to replace them, respectively, by the same products or equivalent works.

·         If it is impossible to replace lost and damaged books or other materials, the Patron reimburse the cost.

·         If the Patron refuses to compensate the loss or damage, the Directorate of the Library takes appropriate action for damages.

·         If after three reminders, the Patron does not return library materials, he/she loses the right to use the Library materials.

·         If the Patron removes books from the Library building without borrowing properly, he/she loses the right to use the Library for 6 (six) months.

         Reporting a Lost ID Card

 

Take good care of ID card, not transfer ID card to another person. Patron is responsible for all the library materials that are registered on the ID card.

You are responsible for all material borrowed on your account. If you lose your ID Card contact Helpdesk immediately.

 

 

         NU Library Notification Services

 

NU Library emails reminders for when materials are due.


 

        Library Hours

 

Monday - Friday from 8:30 am to 9:45 pm.
Saturday and Sunday  from 11:00am to 7:45pm.

 

During semester holidays

 

Monday - Friday from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm.
Saturday and Sunday  days off

 

The Library will be closed during holidays.
