Research Support

The library continues one-to-one support. You can discuss research strategies for your projects, assignments, or publishing articles with the librarian. Feel free to ask the Library’s Research Support Office to learn more about these opportunities. Contact library@nu.edu.kz or visit Yelizaveta, Lazzat, and Ainash in the Main Library (Floor 3, Block 5e, office #323).

Whether you need help with research strategies, finding reliable sources, or using citation tools, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support your academic success every step of the way.

Can’t make it to the library today? Ask our virtual librarian on duty, NURIA, or you can book a virtual appointment.

Moreover, our LibGuides are here to help you navigate these challenges with confidence. They are available 24/7.

Dear NURIA...

Assel
NU student
Dear NURIA,

I find it challenging to use academic English in my research projects. Even in school, I had difficulties with the language, particularly with using appropriate collocations in certain contexts. My current English skills are not strong enough for some university tasks. Could you recommend resources to help me improve my academic command of the language so I can write essays more professionally, especially for my Rhetoric class.

Best regards,
— Assel

Dear Assel,

Writing in an academic style can indeed be challenging. It takes time and practice to express your ideas clearly and professionally so that your writing flows smoothly.

I recommend exploring this LibGuide, which offers valuable tips and examples. You’ll also find books with excellent phrases and expressions you can incorporate into your research projects. Identify the ones you find most useful and start applying them right away—it’s one of the fastest ways to improve your academic writing.

Over time, as you consistently use these phrases and techniques, you’ll notice your writing becoming more confident and precise. Don’t be discouraged by initial difficulties—academic writing is a skill that develops with regular practice. You can also reach out to the library’s team for additional guidance, feedback on your drafts, or recommendations for other learning materials. Remember, every great writer started as a learner.

Hope this helps!

Beyond books,

NURIA
