Library Concludes Academic Publishing and Research Integrity Course for NURA

This week, the NU Library completed the latest round of the course “Academic Publishing Support and Research Integrity” (see our previous news post).

The final modules (4 & 5) of the course focused on essential topics in academic publishing and research integrity. Participants learned how to choose appropriate journals, understand various publishing models (Traditional, Open Access, Self-Publishing, Hybrid), and navigate author rights, copyright, and licensing within the Open Science framework. Financial aspects such as Article Processing Charges (APCs) and available funding support were also discussed, along with strategies to identify and avoid predatory journals. The course concluded with guidance on the responsible use of AI in research and academic writing. While AI tools can support the research process, the final responsibility for originality, accuracy, and ethical compliance rests with the author. Participants explored NU’s current stance on AI and best practices for its responsible integration into scholarly work.

The course will be offered again in September and November, continuing to support NU’s growing research community.

Congratulations to all participants who completed the course and received their certificates! We wish you success in your ongoing research and academic endeavours.
