Open Access resources for research

Open gateway to Open Access resources. We will give you some guidance in searching for open information sources.
Practice: Searching open books, journals and articles in Open Access Directories, Springer, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier sites, open thesis and dissertation digital libraries.

Yes, you know Google, but do you know it well enough? You will found out how google algorithm works: truncation, wildcards, personal search engine.
Google scholar library and tags.
What is open access and how access is provided by Google Scholar?
Practice: Searching, creating personal search engine and library. Identifying document source.

Nazarbayev University Institutional Repository

What is the Nazarbayev University Institutional Repository? If you are not familiar with NU Institutional Repository please join this session. You will learn more about benefits and advantages of submitting scientific articles to the Institutional Repository. Find out how to increased visibility of research output and reach a worldwide audience.

Author Profiles: ORCID

What are author profiles? Learn the advantages of having an ORCiD Author Profile to manage all your works published across multiple databases. Find out what resources are available to help with author profile integration of Scopus/Elsevier, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.

SAGE Research Methods

Whether you want to learn about research methods in general, or want to know more about a methodology you've heard about, come join us for this session. We'll discuss the resources the library has to offer to help you investigate different types of methodologies to find the best one for you.
Practice: Exploring SAGE Research Methods.

Plagiarism and Academic Honesty

We all understand the importance of being honest in our work and making sure those who have helped us get due credit. 
Practice: Learning more about the resources available to properly cite your sources and lead your readers to other good information.

 

25 November (Friday) 2-3 pm
Literature revie

Make the literature review of your project, thesis or research paper easier with the tools provided by the library: learn how to execute effective searches, find key literature in your field, and keep updated with new trends.
Practice: Exploring major abstract databases like Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar and giving tips on how to make the best use of the tools they provide, like article metrics, saved searches, alerts etc.

Scival & Scival Funding

Check the performance of an institution or researcher, compare and filter potential collaborators for your research projects and discover sources of funding: SciVal and SciVal Funding are two powerful tools provided by the library to help you achieve all of the above. Subscribe to our workshop for an overview on how to use them.

Want to publish? Choosing the right journal for your research can seem daunting? You are not alone….We can help you to find journals that could be best suited for publishing your scientific article!

Pure 

Get inspired by the research of NU Faculty, staff, and students. Build reports, carry out performance assessments, manage researcher profiles, enable networking and expertise discovery using Pure Research Information System.

 

The language of workshops is English.

All workshops will be held in a Small CompLab, 2d floor, NULibrary
