ASEAN Book Corner was opened at the Nazarbayev University Library on 16 November 2022.

The event was supported and jointly organized with the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. ASEAN Book Corner was opened by the President of Nazarbayev University Mr Shigeo Katsu followed by general greetings made by the Vice-President for Student Affairs and International Cooperation Ms Kadisha Dairova, and NU Library Director Mr Jerald Cavanagh. The official ceremony of the ribbon cutting was jointly led by His Excellency Dr Mochamad Fadjroel Rachman, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Dato’ Syed Mohamad Bakri bin Syed Abd Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Her Excellency PHAM Thai Nhu Mai, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Dr Orathai Phubunlap Gunaseelan, Chargé d'affaires, A.I. of the Royal Thai Embassy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
