Some of our favourite book quotes this season

Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught
— Oscar Wilde
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

A Book Recommendation for Treasure Seekers
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

This story inspires readers to pursue their personal Legend. Take a look at this masterpiece to find out where the true passions can lead.

“My heart is afraid it will have to suffer,” the boy confessed to the alchemist one night as they gazed at the dark, starry sky. "Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than suffering itself," replied the alchemist. "And no heart has ever truly suffered when it follows its dreams.”

"The Alchemist" is the enchanting tale of Santiago, a young shepherd from Andalusia with a deep desire to seek a treasure as magnificent as any ever discovered. His journey takes him from his home in Spain to the markets of Tangiers and across the vast Egyptian desert, ultimately leading him to a life-changing meeting with the alchemist.

Through Santiago’s journey and the treasures, he finds along the way, we learn profound lessons about listening to our hearts, understanding the signs scattered along our path, and, above all, pursuing our dreams.

What’s On

In November NU joined the global UNESCO campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive community for all NU members. One of the goals is to raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote efforts to combat it.

A series of events and activities designed to engage our community in meaningful dialogue and action included Townhall Meeting, Coffee Talks, Film Screening, Art Exhibition and celebration of International Women’s Self-Defense Day. The library session highlighted importance of awareness and ability to stay updated with the current information, research and initiatives.

In support the Library is proud to present a curated book display featuring essential works focused on understanding and addressing gender-based violence. Selected books from our collection will educate, inspire, and foster dialogue within our community about critical issues. The display showcases resources that empower readers to better understand and combat violence against women and marginalized groups.
