Welcome to the comprehensive library collections at NU, which include both the Main Library and the School of Medicine Library. Our libraries are committed to supporting research, teaching, and learning through a diverse range of print and digital resources. Our collections expand through the selection of resources by Liaison Librarians, requests from academics and researchers engaged in specific studies at NU, and donations, all by the library's collection development policy.
Library Collections
Both the Main Library and the School of Medicine Library provide access to library print collections.

Main Library Collection

The library holds over 240,000 print volumes. The collection supports all areas of research and teaching at NU. The library actively expands its collection each year by selecting new books through Subject Librarians and suggestions from NU faculty, researchers, and students. Print books can be found on open shelves on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the library. The Library of Congress Classification System is used to arrange the books by subject. To locate a print book, use the Library Primo. Verify that the item is available, and make a note of the location and call number. Books in this collection include publications in English, Kazakh, Russian, French, Japanese, and other languages.

Popular Reading
Users are invited to browse the shelves on the 3rd floor of the Main Library for fiction books. Other titles of current interest, popular science, and non-fiction can also be found within the open shelves collections.

Short Loan Collection
Materials in this collection can be used in the library for 2 hours. Please ask at the library circulation desk for more details.
