Events, technologies and guides in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion at Nazarbayev University
Besides offering state-of-art resources and services, the NU Library strives to create a venue for knowledge-sharing and discussion on inclusive education in the NU community and beyond. In line with this, the library regularly hosts thematic events and develops its outreach programs including assistive technologies trainings, disability-friendly communication workshops, and presentations of prominent books on inclusive education.
Open Access Initiatives
Open Access as a model for dissemination of knowledge at NU
Open Access movement at Nazarbayev University strives to increase visibility of research, preserve and forge the intellectual potential, and ultimately advance Kazakhstan as a research and innovation-oriented country. The NU Academic Council members unanimously passed the Open Access Policy on March 20, 2019. This framework supporting open and sustainable scholarly communication will go into effect in Fall 2020 and apply to all authors affiliated with the University.
International Open Access Week is an annual week-long event to support the importance of OA as a model for knowledge dissemination. Celebrating OA Week at NU we provide opportunity for faculty, students and researchers to learn about ongoing scholarly communication issues and initiatives, to highlight NUR services that help promote open access and sustainable scholarly communication.
